Did NILS help you improve your Janpanese proficiency?

Alexander Ray

Absolutely. Admittedly, when I first came to Japan, I had essentially no knowledge of the Japanese language. I could only say a couple of things without even fully knowing what they meant. After my two years of studying at NILS, I’m working and even going to college, using Japanese every single day.

Interviewer

How helpful was the staff after you started the program?

Alexander Ray

Even before I came to Japan, NILS staff answered all of my emails and helped me with any problems I may have had at the time. Then, from the very first moment I arrived in Fukuoka, NILS staff has been nothing but incredibly helpful. After two years, I’m able to handle most problems by myself, but even now if I have an issue I don’t understand, the staff at NILS has been more than helpful in assisting me.

How would you rate your teacher?

Alexander Ray

If I had to give my teachers a rating it would be 11/10. From the beginning, all of the teachers I had have been really understanding and have helped me everyday. Not only do I want to learn Japanese, but I also look forward to simply speaking with my teachers every day.

How about NILS school Activity?

Alexander Ray

At NILS, it’s not just studying everyday. Occasionally there’s special events and activities we’ll do and it helps make us more connected with not only each other but Japanese culture as well. The excitement whenever an event is announced and leading up to it was always a thrilling experience.

How do you like Fukuoka?

Alexander Ray

I absolutely love Fukuoka. This prefecture is filled with so many amazing people, culture, history, and just overall activities to do. Near NILS there’s major cities with plenty of things to do and many people to meet without feeling overwhelmed. As I continue my education here in Fukuoka I have no intentions on leaving this beautiful prefecture.
