Did NILS help you improve your Japanese proficiency?
- BARBIER Bastien
-
NILS did help me improve my japanese proficiency a lot. When I first arrived in Japan, I was barely able to make a full sentence in japanese. Now, after only 2 years, I am able to engage in everyday conversations with japanese people and I feel at ease in a working environment.

How helpful was the staff after you started the program?
- BARBIER Bastien
-
Because my japanese knowledge was so poor when I started, understanding the most basic directions was a real challenge for me. There were a few times I even asked myself “What did I get myself into?”
Of course learning a new language can be very scary, but the teachers were always very understanding and patient. Talking slowly and using basic vocabulary when students are in trouble, and slowly increasing the difficulty along with the students progress. It helps with building self-confidence and is the reason why I felt very comfortable learning japanese at NILS.

How would you rate your teacher?
- BARBIER Bastien
-
I managed to enter the University I was aiming for, got to a pretty high japanese proficiency level, and had the chance to participate in so many japanese culture events! Guess that means I am fully satisfied with my stay at NILS! 10/10! :D

How about NILS school Activity?
- BARBIER Bastien
-
Visiting the famous areas, and even sometimes discovering some hidden locations around the school, all while having a nice conversation with the teachers is always a fun time! Being able to share new experiences with friends of different cultures, and learning about them is what makes studying abroad such a wonderful experience. I cannot recommend enough to everyone to try at least once!

How do you like Fukuoka?
- BARBIER Bastien
-
Fukuoka is the perfect balance between busy city and calm environment. The city I live in feels extremely safe, and I am only 15 minutes away by train from the big part of the city. That being said, I most of the time don’t even feel the need to go there as I have everything that I need around me already.
Even after two years I am yet to discover everything about Fukuoka. There are so many interesting places that are worth seeing, so many restaurants that smells delicious…I wish I could study more at NILS just to be able to visit Fukuoka more!
