Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. I would like to introduce one of the holidays in Golden Week: みどりの日 Greenery Day.
Greenery Day is May 4th. The purpose of this holiday is to get closr to nature, appreciate its blessings and enrich the spirit of the people. Greenery Day was once on April 29th, or the Showa Emperor’s birthday, but was moved to the current date in accordance with a revision of the law pertaining to public holidays in 2005. It should be noted another intention of this holiday is to remember and respect the great knowledge in botany of the former Emperor Showa and his deep affection for plants.
