Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. One more national holiday in Golden Week: こどもの日 Children’s Day.
Children’s Day is may 5th. It is a holiday to pray for all children’s health and growth. Although the day is officially called Children’s Day, it has traditionally been a festive day for little boys. Families with boys display samurai warrior dolls and helmets in the house. Cloth carp streamers are put up on a tall flagpole outside of teh house or on a balcony. It is also customary to eat sweet rice cakes wrapped in oak leaves and rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves.
