Let’s learn Japanese: Lesson 5-(1)

Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. Let’s start new lesson today!
[N (place) へ 行(い)きます/来(き)ます/帰(かえ)ります] *N refers to a noun.
When a verb indicates movement to a certain place, the particle へ is put after the place noun to show the direction of the move. The particle へ is read え.
(Example)
京都(きょうと)へ 行きます。 I will go to Kyoto.
日本へ 来ました。 I came to Japan.
うちへ 帰ります。 I will go home.
*行きます: go
*来ます: come
*帰ります: go home, return

[N (Vehicle) で 行きます/来ます/帰ります]
The particle で indicates a means or a method. When verbs denoting movemnet (いきます, きます, かえります, etc.) are used with で, で indicates a means of transportation. The noun proceeding で is a vehicle in this case.
(Example)
電車(でんしゃ)で 行きます。 I will go by train.
タクシーで 来ました。 I came by taxi.
*電車: train
*タクシー: taxi
(Words of vehicles)
*飛行機(ひこうき): airplane
*船(ふね): ship
*地下鉄(ちかてつ): subway, underground
*新幹線(しんかんせん): the Shinkansen, the bullet train
*バス: bus
*自転車(じてんしゃ): bicycle
*車(くるま): car

When you walk somewhere, you use the expession あるいて. In this case, で is not used.
(Example)
駅(えき)から 歩(ある)いて 帰りました。 I walked home from the station.
*駅: station
*歩いて: on foot
