Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese langauge school. We start a new lesson today.
[Nを V (transitive)] *N refers to a noun, and V refers to a verb.
を is used to indicate the direct object of a transitive verb.
(Example)
ジュースを 飲(の)みます。 I drink juice.
*飲みます: drink
Note that を and お are pronounced the same. を is used only in writing the particle.
[Nを します]
The words used as the objects of the verb します cover a fairly wide range. します means that the action denoted by the noun is performed. Some examples are show below.
(Example)
1. to “play” sports or games
サッカーを します play football (soccer)
トランプを します Play cards
2. to “hold” gatherings
パーティーを します give a party
会議(かいぎ)を します hold a meeting
*パーティー: party
*会議(かいぎ): meeting
3. to “do” something
宿題(しゅくだい)を します do homework
仕事(しごと)を します do one’s work
*宿題(しゅくだい): homework
*仕事(しごと): work, job
