Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. Let’s learn Japanese language with us!
[N (place)で V] *N refers to a noun, and V refers to a verb.
When added after a noun denoting a place, で indicates the place where an action occurs.
(Example)
駅(えき)で 新聞(しんぶん)を 買(か)います。
I buy the newspaper at the station.
*新聞(しんぶん): newspaper
[V ませんか]
When you want to invite someone to do something, this expression is used.
(Example)
いっしょに 京都へ 行きませんか。 —ええ、いいですね。
Won’t you come to Kyoto with us? —That’s a nice idea.
[V ましょう]
This expression is ued when a speaker is positively inviting the listner to do something with the speaker. It is also used when responding positively to an invitation.
(Example)
ちょっと 休(やす)みましょう。 Let’s have a break.
いっしょに 昼(ひる)ごはんを 食べませんか。 —ええ、食べましょう。
Won’t you have luch with us? —Yes, let’s go and eat.
*昼ごはん: lunch
Note that an invitation using V ませんか shows more consideration to the listner’s will than that using V ましょう.
