[Nが　あります／わかります]
[Nが　好（す）きです／嫌（きら）いです／上手（じょうず）です／下手（へた）です]
The objective of a transitive verb is marked with the particle を. However, objects of the verbs あります and わかります are marked with the particle が.
*あります：　have
*わかります：　understand
(Example)
わたしは　日本語が　わかります。　　　I understand Japanese.
わたしは　車が　あります。　　　I have a car.

Such subjects, and these are marked with the particle が, too. The verbs and adjectives whose objects are marked with the particle が are those kinds that describe preference, ability, possession and the like.
*すき[な]　好き[な]：　like
*きらい[な]　嫌い[な]：　dislike
*じょうず[な]　上手[な]：　good at
*へた[な]　下手[な]：　poor at

わたしは　イタリア料理（りょうり）が　好きです。　　　I like Italian food.
スミスさんは　バスケットボールが　上手です。　　　Mr. Smith is good at basketball.
