Japanese Nobel Prize Winners #4

Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. We would like to introduce a few of the Japanese Nobel Prize winners.
[Shirakawa Hideki (白川英樹)/Chemistry, 2000]
Polymer scientist. Sirakawa succeeded in synthesizing a conductive poimer, called “polyacetylene.” It is plastic but possesses many of the same properties as those of metal.

[Noyori Ryoji (野依良治)/Chemistry, 2001]
Organic chemist. noyori developed chiral hydrogen catalysts by using a special agent called BINAP. It has been widely applied in the synthesis of antibiotics and many other pharmaceuticals and in the food industry.

[Koshiba Masatoshi (小柴昌俊)/Physics, 2002]
Physicist. Koshiba’s pioneering work was the detection of neutrios; elemetary particles that come from outer space. he is the founder of the Kamiokande and Super Kamiokande, or gigantic observation detector located 1,000 meters underground at a Kamioka mine site in Gifu prefecture.
