[V て-form います]
V て-form います is also used in describing a habitual action; that is, when the same action is repeatedly performed over a period of time. Therefore, one’s occupation can be expressed by this sentence pattern, like in the third and forth examples below. So if the quesion おしごとは　なんですか is asked, this sentence pattern can be used to answer it.
(Example)
IMCでは　コンピューターソフトを　作って　います。　　IMC makes computer software.
スーパーで　フィルムを　売って　います。　　Supermarkets sell films.
スミスさんは　IMCで　働いて　います。　　Mr. Smith works for IMC.
妹は　大学で　勉強して　います。　　My younger sister is studying at university.

[知りません]
The negative form of しって　います is しりません, not しって　いません.
(Example)
市役所の　住所を　知って　いますか。　　Do you know the address of the city hall?
—はい、知って　います。　　Yes, I do.
—いいえ、知りません。　　No, I don’t.
