Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. We start a new lesson today.
First, we let’s learn some new words relating to Lesson 16.
[Verbs]
のります (乗ります) Group I: ride, get on
おります (折ります) Group II: get off
のりかえます (乗り換えます) Group II: change (trains, etc.)
あびます (浴びます) Group II: take (a shower)
いれます (入れます) Group II: put in, insert
だします (出します) Group I: take out, withdraw
はいります (入ります) Group I: enter (school)
でます (出ます) Group II: Graduate from (school)
やめます Group II: quit or retire from (a company), stop, give up
おします (押します) Group I: push, press
[い-adjective]
わかい (若い): young
ながい (長い): long
みじかい (短い): short
あかるい (明るい): bright, light
くらい (暗い): dark
せが たかい (背が 高い): tall (referring to person)
あたまが いい (頭が いい): clever, smart
Now, we start with a new sentence pattern in this lesson.
[V て-form, (V て-form), ~]
To connect verb sentences, the て-form is used. When two or more actions are mentioned in the order of occurrence by using the て-form. The tense of the sentence is determined by the tens form of the last verb of the sentence.
(Example)
朝 ジョギングを して、 シャワーを 浴びて、 会社へ 行きます。
In the morning, I jog, take a shower and go to the office.
神戸へ 行って、 映画を 見て、 お茶を 飲みました。
I went to Kobe, saw a movie and drink tea.
