文化の日 Culture Day

Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. Today’s topic is the national holiday in Japan, Bunka no hi 文化の日.
November 3rd was ofiginally celebrated as the Meiji emperor’s birthday. And it was also on this day that the Japanese Constitution was proclaimed. To commemorate both events, this day was established as the national holiday Bunka no hi, dedicated to “the love of freedom, peace and the promotion of culture.” It’s also the day when the goevernment grants cultural-service awards to people who have contributed to Japanese culture, on whom the emperor confers the order of Cultural Merit at the Imperial Palace.

For international students in Japan, they can visit Kyushu National Museum for free this year.
