Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. Today’s topic is Japanese Nobel Prize winners.
[Kobayashi Makoto 小林誠 & Masukawa Toshihide 益川敏英/Phisics, 2008]Kobayashi and Masukawa shared the prize. They expanded on Nambu’s model and theorized that six types of quarks would need to have existed since the very beginning of the universe in order to adequately explain CP violation.
[Shimomura Osamu 下村脩/Chemistry, 2008]
Shimomura shared the prize with two American scientists for the discovery of a green fluorescent protein in jellyfish. Scientists and researchers throughout the world now use the protein as a kind of genetic marker, which allows them to observe how organs function and diseases grow.
