Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school.
It is a good chance for students studying Japanese language to learn new words even during a short break between classes.
When you speak in a foreign language, what would you do if you cannot say a certain word in that language?
1. Look up a dictionary.
2. Use gestures.
3. Try to tell by using the words you have already learned.
4. Try to say in mother tongue.
5. Give up.

Today, one Nepali student came to me and asked, “住所の番号が知りたいです/(Literally) I want to know the number of address.”
(“The number of address? He means the street number?”)　
I told him, “It is written on your residence card.”
He said, “No, not a street number.” Then he said, “ポストの番号/the number of post.”
Now, I got it. He wants to know the postal code of his address. He didn’t know how to say “postal code” in Japanese. I taught him “郵便番号(ゆうびんばんごう)” in Japanese.
He looked very happy to learn a new word!

It is very difficult for them to tell us exactly what they want to say, but we hope they will try to learn new things like the above Nepali student.
