NILS Japanese language school offers you special programs this coming summer with various kinds of cultural activities. We have a lot of kinds of local events here in Japan during summer season.

One of the most exciting events in Fukuoka is Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival, one of the three largest festivals here. This festival is held from July 1 to July 15 and you can enjoy watching huge colorful and decorative Yamakasa floats during the festival period.
However, the climax of Yamakasa Festival is early in the morning on July 15! Men carrying large 1-ton Yamakasa floats race through the streets of Hakata at full speed. The races attract thousands of spectators including you. We hope you won’t miss it.



Fireworks displays are also spectacular. You can enjoy watching fireworks dispalys everywhere in Japan. Ohori Fireworks Display is held on August 1 every year and the largest scale in the city. About 6,000 shots of fireworks are shot off from the center of the pond in Ohori Park and thousands of visitors enjoy watching them around the pond.
