The students learning Japanese language in our winter course had their first experience of calligraphy last week. We inroduce one of the interviews today.
1. Would you tell us which country you are from and tell us a bit about your country?
—I am from America. There are mny different types of people there, so you can experience a little of everything, especially different foods. That is how I come to love to Japan. I have seen callygraphy, but have never watches it being drawn or have drawn it myself.
2. You have just started 8 weeks short term program and I believe it is your first experience for calligraphy. How did you like it?
—I like it a lot. I am not very good at art, but the more I practices calligraphy, I want to keep doing it more and more. Very fun and learned new things.
3. Would you show us your work?
—Yes.
4. Did you learn the meaning of the words you chose?
—Yes, I learned kanji for good luck “幸せ”.
5. How did this experience make you feel more interesting to learn Japanese language?
—I think it is important to not just learn the vocabulary and grammar but also learn about the culture. It also makes me understand why writing and stroke order is important.
6. Dod you want to try it again?
—Yes, many times.
