Students learning Japanese language at NILS Fukuoka Campus enjoyed cooking Japanese style pizza, Okonomi-yaki. This is very popular Japanese cuisine, and you can try to cook it for yourself.
Here is its recipe, so if you have a chance, try it at home.
Ingredients for two
1. Okonomiyaki Flour—120g
2. Water—120-160cc (Please adjust as you like toughness)
3. Cabbage’s leaves—5 or 6 leaves (about 300g)
4. Egg—2 eggs
5. squid(slices) —80g
6. beef (slices) —100g
Toppings for finish
7. Okonomiyaki sauce (This is necessary) —a proper quantity
8. Aonori (It would be better if you can get) —a proper quantity
9. Shavings of dried bonito called ‘鰹節(かつおぶし)’ (It would be better if you can get)—a proper quantity
10. Mayonnaise—a proper quantity
How to cook
1. Chop up cabbage leaves for about 1 inch square.
2. Put the Okonomiyaki Flour into a bowl, then pour the water in it with dividing 3 or 4 times and mix the well. Add eggs and cabbage to mix again.
3. Spread oil on a heated flying-pan, and spread one person’s portion of the dough ‘2’ on it.
4. Put toppings (squid and beef) on it. (Also you can choose sliced pork or cheese as you like.)
5. Bake it in a middle heat. If the one side of it seems to be baked, turn it upside down daringly.
6. Put a cover on the flying-pan and roast another side of it for 3 or 4 minutes.
7. Please eat! 🙂
