NILS Activity: Momochi Seaside Park #2

NILS students learning Japanese language in summer program enjoyed Momochi Seaside Park. We would like to introduce more comments on this activity.

On a partly cloudy day, we and the teachers went to the almighty Fukuoka Tower! After taking a bus for about 20 minutes from Tenjin to the tower, it was a sight to see. The tall structure stood with such precision and symmetry! Not to mention how clean it was on the outside and inside. We collectively went to the top and were immediately stopped by the view. After that, we went next door to talk to Sony robots!! In America, we don’t have anything like that so I was speechless. The robots understood some programmed phrases but none the less, it was super cool! That concluded our 4 hour adventure and it was my last one, unfortunately. Thank you NILS for making my last activity a very very awesome one! —Dar-san, from U.S.

When I heard that it was going to be at seaside I knew this was going to be a fun trip! We went all the way to Momochi to Fukuoka Tower. The tower was really beautiful. For some reason, one can feel at peace being up there. The buildings all looked like toys because there were so small and far away. It was an absolutely awesome experience! I even got to fight a dragon on the roof! They had this optical illusion floor image where it looks like you’re walking on a plank over a huge hole in the ground with a giant dragon. It was so fun!
After, we went to Robot Square. There were so many different kinds of robots! The first robot I tried to talk to was Hello Kitty. She was so cute but she kept asking me what I said! It’s OK though. I think Hello Kitty Robot and I have become good friends. There was also a robot dog called AIBO. I think AIBO is such a cute name for a robot dog because it sounds like robot but it means friend or partner in Japanese! AIBO was very smart! It was able to dance and sing. AIBO might have been my favorite since it was very cute and fun to play with. I will definitely be sharing these videos with my family! —Stephanie-san, from U.S.
