How are you doing? It’s summer vacation time at NILS.
You might know that Japan is very hot and humid during summer.
How do people deal with this weather?
We will give you some tips on surviving hot summer in Japan.
Tip 1 — Furin(風鈴 )
As we mentioned earlier, we like to listen to Furin, the windchimes to make us feel cool.
Tip 2 — Ice cream and shaved ice
You can get a variety of ice cream everywhere. You can also get Japanese shaved ice which is a very popular treat for children and adults alike.
Tip 3 — Horror stories
Having a horror experience is one way to cool down your body. Of course, you can enjoy horror stories or movies, but why don’t you try out an actual scary experience?
During summer in Japan, you can find many Japanese horror houses. We call it “おばけ屋敷 (obakeyashiki)” which can be very, very scary (people said).
Also, “肝試し (kimodameshi)” is another popular horror activity where people go to “ghost spots” (such as graves, ruins, etc.) and test how “brave” they are.
Thinking of ghosts will make your blood curdle – a chill running down your spine.
What if a ghost appears now in front you…
your body temperature just went down by 2 degrees, didn’t it?
