Do you have your own signature stamp? You sign on your important documents, right? Japanese people use their own stamp to “sign documents.” Thus, most Japanese have their official stamp.
There are several types of stamps.
- Jitsu-in: This type of stamp is registered in the municipality of one’s residence. It is used mostly for large transactions such as buying a car or house. There are no two jitsu-in stamps even for the same name.
- Ginko-in: This is registered at banks used to open accounts and have banking transactions.
- Mitome-in: Not registered officially but used to for everyday business such as receiving packages and consenting at office.
It might be a good idea to have your own signature stamp in Japan as there will be some situations that require your “signature.”
