Hello, everyone!
We can enjoy a full of cherry blossom in Japan at this season. Even I see this scenery every year, I am so touched its beautifulness every year.
By the way, NILS had a speech contest the other day. Students made scripts by themselves, and they practiced again and again with teachers’ supports. They might be nervous to speak in front of many people, but they presented their story in Japanese very fluently, and I was moved by their great performance.
I still remember the day students arrived at the airport for the first time, and I really feel that everyone had a great progress in Japan.
Let me tell you about two great speeches among them.
①Title: My favorite anime “Attack on Titan” ～English Version～

I have enjoyed watching anime for 3 years. I love Japanese anime, and also I watch anime from other countries such as Korean anime.
When I was in Nepal, one of my best friends showed me anime and “Attack on Titan was the first series I watched. The story is about battle between people and titans to obtain liberty. Both animations and stories are interesting. The main character is Ellen Yeager. This anime began in 2013 on TV program and there are 25 stories. After that, season 2 and 3 were broadcasted in 2017-2019.
When I was in my country, I had watched anime for 8 hours every day and I enjoyed watching them alone. Japan is so famous for anime and it is exciting to stay in Japan. These days, I have watched “Record of Ragnarok.” The story is about a fight between God and people.
After I came to Japan, I watch anime only 1 hour for weekdays and 4 hours for weekends. I don’t have a plenty of time because I have to do my study and job, but I really enjoy watching anime every day.
I love anime because they made me happy. I highly recommend that all of you try some anime.

わたしはアニメを見ることが好きです。３年前からアニメを見ることが好きです。
アニメは日本のアニメが好きです。ほかの国のアニメも見ます。
かんこくのアニメを見たことがあります。
国にいたとき、わたしのしんゆうがアニメを紹介してくれました。
はじめて見たアニメは『しんげきのきょじん』でした。
『しんげきのきょじん』はアニメーションと話がとてもおもしろいです。
このアニメは人々と大きな人々の戦いのアニメです。自由になりたいですから、戦います。
主人公のなまえはエレン・イェーガーです。
２０１３年にテレビで始まりました。２５の話がありました。
シーズン２は２０１７年、シーズン３は２０１８年から２０１９年におこないました。
今年もおこなっています。国にいたとき、毎日８時間ぐらいアニメを見ていました。ほとんどの時間、わたしは一人で見ていました。
日本に来てからも、アニメを見ています。日本はアニメで有名ですから、日本にいると気分がいいです。
今は『終末のワルキューレ』を見ています。これは神様と人々のケンカのアニメです。
日本に来てからアニメを見ていますが、勉強と仕事をしなければなりませんから、毎日は１時間、週末は４時間ぐらい見ています。短い時間ですが、楽しいです。
わたしはアニメが好きです。アニメは見ていて楽しいですから、みなさんもぜひ見てください。

②Title: My dream ~English Version~

Today, I would like to talk about my dream.
“What is your dream?” I think many people feel difficulty to answer their dreams immediately. My dreams have changed a lot. For instance, I wanted to be a painter when I was an elementary school student, and some time I wanted to be a doctor.
I had been studying Chinese for four years when I was a junior high school student, because my hometown is near to Chinese port and I had opportunities to relate to China. I had wanted to study Chinese at Vietnam’s university and to be an interpreter after graduated from high school at that time. However, I had a chance to getting know about senior students who went to Japan for study after I entered high school. I read blogs of Vietnam’s people that living or working in Japan and using Japanese, and it made me start to learn about Japan. While I learned about Japan, my interest to Japan became stronger and stronger, and I was hoping to study in Japan and to be an interpreter of Japanese.
When I was taking NILS’s interview test, a teacher asked me “What job would you like to do in the future? I answered “I want to be a Japanese interpreter.” Then, the teacher said to me that even if that job is difficult and needs hard effort, I can accomplish my dream if I try hard. Teacher’s words cheered me greatly.
When I have a free time, I often listen to Japanese podcasts, and get advice and information from my senior students how to study Japanese. It is so tough to tackle with both study and part-time job, but I can overcome and continue to make efforts thanks to my family and teachers of NILS.
I have goals to pass N2 examination and to enter Tokyo Business School. I chose this school because I can study business Japanese for my future and it is helpful to become an interpreter. When I become a Japanese interpreter, I would like to connect Japan and Vietnam economically and help Vietnam’s students studying in Japan.
I believe that nothing is impossible. We can achieve everything if we trust ourselves and continue to make efforts.

②タイトル「わたしの夢(ゆめ)」

今日は私の夢の話をしたいと思います。
みなさんの夢は何ですか。聞かれたら、すぐ答えられる人は多くないと思います。
私の夢もよく変わっていました。例えば、小学生の頃は画家になりたいと思っていたり、医者になりたいと思っていました。
中学校の4年間は中国語を勉強していました。私のうちから中国の出入国地点が近いので、中国語に接する機会が多かったです。
高校を卒業したら、ベトナムの大学で中国語を専攻して、通訳者になりたいと思っていました。
でも、高校生になって、同じ高校を卒業したら、留学生として日本に行った先輩たちのことを知りました。
日本に住んでいるベトナム人や日本語を使う仕事をする人のブログを見て、うらやましかったです。
そのときから、日本に関することを調べ始めました。
調べれば調べるほど、日本に興味を持ち日本に留学しようと強く思って、将来日本語の通訳者になろうと心に決めました。
NILSの面接のとき、先生から「将来どんな仕事をしたいですか。」と聞かれました。
「日本語の通訳者になりたいです。」私は答えました。
先生に「この仕事は難しくて、努力が必要だけど、一生懸命すればきっとなれるよ。」と言われました。
その言葉が励みになりました。
学校以外にも自分で時間があるとき、日本語のポッドキャストを聞いたり、ベトナムの先輩たちの話を聞いて参考にしています。
しかし、アルバイトと勉強の両立は大変です。ときどきくじけそうになります。
そのときは私を応援してくれる家族のことやNILSの先生のことばを思って、もっと頑張って勉強しなければならないと思っています。
私の卒業までの目標はN2合格と東京のビジネス専門学校合格です。
この専門学校は将来のためのビジネスの勉強もできるし、日本語の通訳者になる夢もかなえられるので、選びました。
日本語の通訳者になったら、一番やりたいのは日本とベトナムの経済をつないで、ベトナム人留学生が困っているときに助けて安心して学べる手助けをしたいと思っています。
私は不可能なことはないと信じています。
自分を信じて挑戦し続ければ夢は叶えられます。

They did wonderful speeches! Important factors to doing speeches are not only what you talk, contents, but also intonation, pronunciation, eye contact, and volume. It is not an easy task, but students enjoyed the process their practicing and making progress.
I am really looking forward next year’s speech contest.
