World Heritage of Japan: 法隆寺

Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. Today’s topic is the World Heritage of Japan: Horyu-ji 法隆寺.
It has been proven by high-definition digital photography that Horyuji Temple uses 1,300 year-old hinoki cypress. And the five story-pagoda of Horyuji Temple is knownfor being the oldest earthquake-proof structure. Today, this structure’s technique is employed by the Kasumigaseki buildiing, the first skyscraper in Japan. The central pillar of the pagoda is hung from the roof of its top level. By swaying like a paedulum in the event of an earthquake, it can keep the balance of the building.
