Starting new life in Japan 2

Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. One of the questions our students often ask us is about health insurance during their stay in Japan.
All of our students in the intensive programs are required to enroll in the National Health Insurance. This system aims to reduce the burden on patients’ medical expenses so that they can receive treatment of illness or injuries without worry. You will receive a health insurance card once you have enrolled in the National Health Insurance. This card is required when you see a doctor for medical treatment. When you receive medical treatment through the National Health Insurance program, you will only pay 30% of the medical costs as the National Health Insurance covers the rest.
Moreover, if the portion you must pay to a hospital for medical costs exceeds a certain amount, there is a reimbursement program that you can apply for.
You have a good health care system here in Japan, but we hope all of our students will finish their studies in Japan without any health problems.
