Starting new life in Japan 3

Hello, I am Yoshi from NILS Japanese language school. Today’s topic is “disposal of garbage.” Ogori City promotes collection of separated garbage to preserve the environment and reduce waste. Disposal of cans, plastic bottles, trays, cartons, used paper and waste cloth at their respective pickup locations on hte designated dates.

Let’s see some of the rules.
◇Burnable garbage
1. Put your garbage out by 7:00 a.m. on the garbage pickup day.
2. Use designated bags to dispose of your garbage.
3. Paper and cloth must be recycled.
◇Non-burnable garbage
1. Separate aluminum cans from steal cans for disposal.
2. Aerosols must be punctured to release any remaining gas.
3. Empty bottles and remove lids for disposal.

Some students haven’t separated garbage in their countries, so it will take some time to get used to these rules. However, you will sse the same rules all over Japan, so try to get used to it as soon as possible!
