NILS Special Activity Nagasaki Tour
In November 2019, for the first time in 38 years, the Roman Pope has visited the bomb-damaged cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
Amid the chilly rain, after quietly placing flowers and offering a silent prayer, he gave a speech appealing for the abolishment of nuclear weaponry.
The Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum is displaying the Pope’s handwritten message along with the candles and their stands used in the ceremony.
The NILS School Activity is designed not only for learning about Japanese culture, but also to understand the impact of the atomic bombs, and the Japanese people’s subsequent desire for peace.
Let’s learn more about war and the culture of Japan together at the city the Pope visited, Nagasaki!
